Hollywood Developing ‘Karen’ Movie Starring Taryn Manning

Hollywood capitalizes on a lot of social media trends/memes throughout the years. So, it’d make sense that they would bring the online meme/in-person stereotype to live in an upcoming project.

‘Karen’ is an upcoming project that will play on the term, meaning:

“A specific type of middle-class white woman, who exhibits behaviors that stem from privilege.”

Taryn Manning played Tiffany “Pennsatucky” Doggett in Netflix’s Orange is the New Black. Manning will headline the project that will be written and directed by Coke Daniels. According to TMZ, the movie is about:

“[A] racist, entitled white woman in the South who terrorizes her new African-American neighbors,”

The movie is about:

“Karen White,” who “makes it her mission to oust the new kids on her block, a black family, by any means necessary.”

There’s no word on when filming is planned to take place on this film. What do you think about Hollywood making a “Karen” movie? A good way to raise awareness? Or a bit tone-deaf?
