In Another Universe Harry Lloyd Would Make a Good Loki

Loki army, do not come after me please! It’s hard to imagine anyone playing the trickster god in the MCU other than Tom Hiddleston. Hiddleston’s portrayal of Loki in the first Thor was what got me invested in the MCU originally. It’s what kept me coming back for more. Remember how Phase One was essentially all leading up to Loki? Yea. That’s all Tom Hiddleston’s doing. I even have a side profile of his Loki tattooed on my body. So, I feel you – I am a Hiddleston stan. I am a part of the Loki army.

I feel I needed to say this because I don’t want anyone misconstruing me based off my title. Hiddleston is the perfect Loki. Just like I don’t want anyone else playing Matt Murdock other than Charlie Cox. Vincent D’Onofrio is Wilson Fisk. And don’t you dare replace Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle.

Why Do I think Harry Lloyd Could Play Loki?

Let’s say, though; we did live in some alternate reality. One where Hiddleston wasn’t Loki. Harry Lloyd would be great at it. Who is Harry Lloyd? Well, he actually played Professor X in FX’s Legion. Oh, I know where you’d know him from. He played Viserys in Game of Thrones. Yea. The world’s worst brother. While we all were happy to see Viserys meet his end by the hands of Drogo, I think people associate actors with their characters too much. Just as Robert Pattinson shouldn’t be defined as just Edward from Twilight, Lloyd shouldn’t be defined by his character from the hit HBO series.

Similar Physical Attributes

Simply looking at them, they look similar. Both are around the same age. Both are roughly around the same height. Lloyd’s hair reminds me of Loki’s in the first Thor film. Their stances are similar and the affliction in their voices could sound the same almost. We’ve already seen that Lloyd has the ability to be both masterful and vulnerable. This is something Hiddleston perfected as Loki. It’s something that Lloyd displays in the Peacock series Brave New World (which, I reviewed).

As I was recently watching Brave New World, I kept looking at Lloyd and feeling like he would absolutely be perfect as Loki. Perhaps a television version of Loki? If Hiddleston ever decided to step away, perhaps Lloyd? Or if there was an alternate reality version of Loki – I’m just saying. There was even at some point during Brave New World that my significant other walked by and asked “is that the guy who plays Loki?” Now, of course, I turned around and said “you don’t know that it’s Tom Hiddleston who plays Loki”? But, the next comment was “you’re right – he looks like Loki”.

It’s Just Fan-Casting

It’s fun to fan-cast. Just like I fan-casted Jon Bernthal as Wolverine. It doesn’t mean I wouldn’t want Bernthal to reprise his role as Frank Castle. So, while I love Hiddleston as Loki and am excited for the Loki Disney+ series, I can’t help but be really curious about Lloyd as Loki. Just think about it. Go watch Brace New World. Watch Lloyd’s mannerisms. Tell me he wouldn’t be great as the trickster god.
