Caught in the crossfire of a world at war, love was the last thing on their minds. But for a beautiful nurse, and a heroic young soldier in search of adventure, romance blossomed and changed their lives forever. Academy-Award® winner Sandra Bullock (The Blind Side, Ocean’s 8 ) and Chris O’Donnell (Batman Forever, The Bachelor) star in Academy Award® winner Sir Richard Attenborough’s epic love story about Ernest Hemingway and the romance which inspired him to write his masterpiece A Farewell to Arms. A story of desperate love and imminent danger, it chronicles the relationship between 18 year-old Hemingway and Agnes von Kurowsky, the medical aide who nursed him back to health after a devastating battlefield injury.

Final Thoughts
In Love and War is a rather dull and disappointing effort from Sir Richard Attenborough and the usually dependable lead performers. Sandra Bullock especially attempts to do what she can with the material, but there is nothing about this story that is particularly compelling in this telling of it. There are fleeting moments when you see the spark this film needs, but it does not translate to a fully engrossing narrative. Warner Archive has released a Blu-Ray featuring an excellent A/V presentation and barely anything in the way of special features. If you are a fan of the performers, it may be worth it to you to still check this one out.
