Recap:
Mark continues to struggle with the boyfriend-son-brother-superhero balancing act. To make matters worse, he is now also plagued by the realization that his world-saving activities sometimes result in mass casualties. As we’ve seen him mature, he has taken his powers and duties more seriously, subconsciously knowing that he is Earth’s mightiest hero. However, it’s not yet a responsibility that he wants to embrace fully, and definitely not alone. As his emotion-fueled battle with Powerplex comes to an unfortunate end, something catastrophically worse is waiting in the wings… Invincible variants who were recruited by Angstrom Levy.
“This is all Invincible’s fault.”
We knew a storm was brewing, but I didn’t foresee it getting this brutal. I get the feeling that the season finale will be a banger. However, before we get there, we have to talk about the epic nature of this episode. Let me start by saying that there are 10 aspects of this episode that I can’t explicitly talk about. That alone should intrigue you, but I can say that Episode 7: What Have I Done? features vicious variant violence. The multiple variants of Invincible who appeared at the end of Episode 6 did, in fact, come to make things incredibly difficult for Mark. Each one, different in costume and personality, was promised something specific by Angstrom. Still assuming that all Invincibles are created equal and are equally, if not more blood-thirsty and power-hungry than the next, Angstrom Levy can’t accept that our Mark may be different.
“Oh shit! You’re the me from this world.”
Speaking of the bulbus head bully, this is not a variant of Angstrom. This is the brain-leaking, face-demolished, beaten-to-a-pulp Angstrom Levy that was assumed dead. He survived, and we see exactly how as we are reminded he tends to be a few steps ahead of everyone. Like much of this season, this episode features new faces and tons of carnage, but we also lose some familiar ones.
With catastrophe surrounding him, loved ones to protect, and normalcy becoming more scarce by the day, the big question is smacking Mark in the face like a hello punch from the Mauler Twins: Are you ready to be THE superhero? This is an episode of sacrifice, humility, and harsh reality. Featuring ‘When the Party’s Over’ by Billie Eilish, this is also an episode of loss and drastic change. Mark’s future is doomed to be filled with difficult decisions, strained relationships, and death-defying battles, but in this current moment, nothing is more challenging. The abundance of moving pieces within the storyline advances its sophistication this season as it’s executed masterfully. Also, a few callbacks pop up, solidifying the comic feel. As the season draws closer to its inevitable end, we must appreciate the drama and the action and trust that Episode 8 will leave us wanting more. Again, what an epic episode. Its rewatchability is high.

Final Thoughts
This is easily the best season of Invincible so far. While it focused on delivering backstory and viewpoints, it balanced it perfectly with top-tier purposeful mayhem. My biggest question is, what will become of the fractured relationship between Cecil and Mark? After that, I’m just waiting for a legit team-up of Mark and Oliver. I have more to say, but you’ll have to wait until next week.
The Invincible Season 3 finale is on March 13, 2025, on Prime Video. Stay safe and never live in a city filled with superheroes or villains if you enjoy your home.
Runtime: 49m
