Quick Recap
The last time we saw our beloved Mark Grayson, he was drenched in blood after making one of the worst decisions of his life. He may have been protecting his mother and newly Earth-bound alien brother, but killing the multiverse traveling revenge-fueled, Angstrom Levy was never his intention. Also, killing is something he has been vehemently against. As he rests hunched over, fists covered in crimson he sobs in shock muttering, I thought you were stronger. Stuck in a parallel universe, he is rescued by a future version of the Guardians of the Globe. Before returning home through a portal, this future version of Eve pleads with Mark to make an emotional declaration to present-day Eve on whether or not he has feelings for her. Once home, he struggles with his actions and decides the balancing act is too difficult, so he decides to quit college. Elsewhere, Nolan remains in a Viltrumite prison with Allen the Alien.
“How can I be a son, a brother, a boyfriend, and a superhero all at the same time?”
Doing the right thing is rarely rewarded, and no one knows that better than Mark Grayson, aka Invincible. In fact, he usually ends up broken and bloody because of it. This season is one of growth, sophistication, and super-powered proclamations. But let me be clear: It’s still brutal as hell. On the topic of growth, it has multiple facets. The Invincible Universe is expanding in the number of characters, character maturation, and sheer size and scope. The writing and storytelling are more sophisticated this third season. The emotional pockets are reaching a peak, the interpersonal relations are increasingly more complex, and the drama is at an all-time high. The animation appears more crisp with richer and more saturated coloring. And the action, well, the action looks more graphic than ever before. If a hole is punched through someone or a head comes off, it’s not clean like it was cut with a knife, instead, there are the gory uneven tears and chucks of flesh like we get in horror movies. More than anything, this will be the season that we all revisit, the season that changed everything.
“Why do you get to live when so many others have died?”
While there are two more episodes, Season 3 fucking incredible. While Mark is its main focus, it does a terrific job highlighting the importance of the other characters. Each episode effortlessly swings to different storylines building to an eventual clash as monumental stances are taken. From Mark attempting to be and do everything, Eve finding her path, Oliver learning what it means to live in human society, Debbie beginning to date, Cecil losing control, Rex traversing adult feelings, and Rudy being secretive as always. Not to mention Nolan and Allen are still in Viltrumite jail quietly plotting. There are plenty of new faces and the return of old ones like Titan, Battle Beast, post-breakup Amber, and the Maulers. This season is a transformational journey for everyone involved. However, not everyone likes change, cough cough, Cecil. The voice acting has leveled up. The cast seems to believe in the show more than ever. The soundtrack continues to be dope and Robert Kirkman is cooking with the direction. Something big is about to happen and I foresee this season going out with a bang.

Elite Episodes
Cast: Steven Yeun, Sandra Oh, J.K. Simmons, Seth Rogen, Walton Goggins, Gillian Jacobs, Jason Mantzoukas, Zazie Beetz, Grey DeLisle, Zachary Quinto, Chris Diamantopoulos, Ross Marquand, Khary Payton, Andrew Rannells, Kevin Michael Richardson, Ben Schwartz, Clancy Brown, Jay Pharoah, Mark Hamill, Melise Jow
Like past seasons, most episodes are fantastic; however, some are exceptionally great. Some are violent, some emotional, and some expansive. The best ones are all of those things and more.
Episode 6: All I Can Say Is I’m Sorry
This episode immediately tops the list. It is a game changer. With all of its moving pieces and explosive moments, many lives are going to be monumentally different moving forward. It’s new, so I won’t say too much, but it’s about to get real.
Episode 2: A Deal With The Devil
This episode asks, whose side are you on? It also leaves you pondering what Rudy is up to. He’s always up to something. This episode is a banger, truly setting the tone for the season. We get some excellent backstory and motivation, lines are drawn in the sand, and we see just how far Cecil goes to maintain the upper hand. With its themes of ego and the messaging about the fragility of life, it’s a multiple-watch episode.
Episode 3: You Want A Real Costume, Right?
This episode begins differently than the others, showing the complexity of people and how some turn to a life of crime reluctantly and out of necessity. And it does with no dialogue. It’s also back in Chicago. Eventually, much of the focus turns to Mark’s rapidly growing and hardheaded little brother, Oliver. All Oliver wants to do is be a hero like Mark, but he doesn’t understand what it takes or the responsibility of the task. Not knowing his own strength, he ends up with blood on his hands after an epic ass-whooping. Eve also stands up for herself and there’s a cool costume change. Overall, it’s Mark trying to balance all his duties and it’s a daunting task.

Final Thoughts
Since there are two episodes left, I guess these thoughts aren’t final, but for now, Season 3 is the best of the trio. And how dope is the blue and black costume? I don’t know how he could look any better. Well, actually that’s a lie, but I can’t talk about it. Also, Cecil and Mark have to come to some sort of agreement at some point, but that’s not going to happen anytime soon. How have you liked this season so far?
