2017’s IT received a lot of praise for it’s homage to the original, while feeling refreshed. Bill Skarsgard premiered as Pennywise, a role that has been received positively. The Losers Club has been working hard on IT: Chapter Two, which will see a return of all the characters twenty-seven years forward in Derry, Maine.
The movie takes place with both the younger children and the older adult versions of themselves. The writer, Gary Dauberman, shared his thoughts:
“In the first one, they’re all together in school so you see them in a bunch but 27 years later, I don’t think it’s a spoiler they’re sort of scattered all over the country. So, we see pieces of who they’ve become which I think is really exciting. Then of course it was great to see them return to Derry.”
As for what fans should expect about the ending of the film, Dauberman added:
“The ending I think will satisfy the audience and maybe break their hearts a little bit.”
Well, that is certainly ominous. How will the film break our hearts? Will someone die? Will we see the adults split off again, realizing perhaps that this was their final curtain call, but that a tragic event such as a battle against a dancing clown cannot permit them to be in each other’s lives, for the thought is too painful? I’m going off track here, but I need to know why!
