[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”21461″ img_size=”620×419″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]If we thought tensions were high for the residents of Seattle in iZombie’s fourth season, it’s nothing compared to season five. With Chase Graves gone and Major in command of Fillmore Graves, the United States has decided to stop supply brains to the zombies within the walls of New Seattle. Now, Major is forced to make an allegiance with Blaine Debeers, who is certainly living the high life. Seriously, Blaine has had some bumps in the road, but he’s gone up in life since season one.
This is the last season of iZombie and we’re beginning the last tale for Liv and co. As we saw in season four, there are people who vehemently are against zombies and the death of a human person does not bode well for the naysayers. So, the Seattle police department needs to look into this matter, all while Major has the difficult decision of who to let out of the walls of New Seattle. Liv is still keeping up her Renegade operations, which Major is in the know about, and allows.
Some of the things that stuck out to me were the talent that iZombie always has to behave meta. Not only do we have Blaine acting in a commercial that is a direct spoof to Matthew McConaughey’s infamous car commercial, but during a broadcast between Peyton Charles and a concerned Seattle resident, the woman against zombies states “they’re already dead”. Which, is a direct shoutout to the theme song for the series “I’m already dead”.
I also need to be a little wary of Dr. Collier, a new character who has begun working at the CDC and is in direct connection with Ravi – stating he is the reason she took the job she did. I was a little skeptical of this woman’s intentions initially, but it does look like she is heeding Ravi’s warnings in some matters.
We also are introduced to another woman who has ill intentions for the people of Seattle; this woman seems quite dangerous. And, we are shown that Blaine, despite his wealth and endorsements; is not afraid to get his hands dirty again. I did miss bad Blaine.
Overall, I think this is a good way for them to have started the season. We see the layout of what to expect for the rest of season five. There was no real brain of the week, not for Liv anyway. But, that’s perfectly fine, as we still got a cooking sequence. It’s going to be interesting to see what will happen in the rest of the season; we know that those behind iZombie were aware season five would be their last, so hopefully, they mapped out what they’re planning accordingly.
