older and grayer but not wiser, johnny knoxville and the gang are back for another outrageous round of stunts and bad ideas. with new friends and loads of celebrity guest stars, the crew take pranks to ridiculous lengths where absolutely no one is safe and all senses are frayed. from exploding port-a-potties to hockey pucks to the nuts and performing magic for an unamused bull, jackass forever is a hilarious roller coaster ride like you’ve never experienced before.

For in-depth thoughts on Jackass Forever, please see my colleague Dom Fisher’s review from its original theatrical release here

Video Quality

Paramount Home Entertainment brings Jackass Forever to Blu-Ray with a really lovely 1080p video presentation that makes the occasionally grotesque antics a bit more pleasant to watch. The presentation provides a significant amount of depth on display, especially when the crew is outdoors which accounts for a large portion of the film. The inventive production design featured in the film, along with the fabrics of clothing, provide crystal clear textural details. The image is clean with the bright, natural color palette popping off the screen. The film has nice splashes within some of the outfits and natural environments of the world, which makes for a very striking image. The black levels are appropriately deep and inky with no discernible digital noise. The flesh tones are natural with a magnificent amount of detail present in close-ups. This Blu-Ray is a top-tier representation of this movie which might reveal more than you ever want to see.

Audio Quality

This disc comes equipped with a magnificent DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio presentation that impresses from beginning to end. From the very beginning kaiju attack, the soundscape kicks into overdrive with an expansive experience suitable for a more momentous movie. Sounds are appropriately rendered with precise directionality from the more kinetic stunts to interpersonal exchanges of dialogue. Ambient details are plentiful and quite satisfying in the rear and surround channels which makes you feel as if you are right beside them. Music envelopes the room when it is implemented. Dialogue is presented perfectly clear without ever being overwhelmed by any of the competing sonic elements. The low end is engaged in a really solid way that complements the stunts well. The mix offers up a more dynamic experience than one might expect.

Final Thoughts

Jackass Forever is not going to leave you contemplating its themes or trying to find deeper meaning. What it will leave you with is memories of laughing at some of the most ridiculous stunts and gags that have been committed to screen to date. This ragtag group has been sacrificing their bodies and well being for our (and their own) entertainment for multiple decades now, while often pulling in unsuspecting crew members into their orbit. If you are a fan of this series, you will relish the opportunity to wince your way through this deliriously funny gauntlet, but there is no chance those who already hate this franchise will become converted by this effort. Paramount Home Entertainment has released a Blu-Ray featuring a terrific A/V presentation and an assortment of deleted footage that should be seen. If you are in need of some crazy, stupid fun, be sure to check this one out. Recommended

Jackass Forever is currently available to purchase on Blu-Ray, DVD and Digital.
