JACKPOT Coming To Sony’s Marvel Cinematic Universe

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”2244″ img_size=”250×382″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]Yesterday Variety reported that Sony was going to scrap Silver & Black and instead give Black Cat and Silver Sable solo films. Variety also reported that Sony has plans to go full steam ahead with its own version of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Sony not only has Venom coming out in October but they have plans for a Jared Leto Morbius film, Nightwatch with Cheo Hodari Coker, and Kraven the Hunter. We also got news that Sony wants to also focus on female driven and directed films with Marvel characters Silk and Jackpot.  Sony’s President Sanford Panitch had this to say in regards to the studio wanting more female driven films:

“Spider-Man connects to a lot of the characters. There are villains, heroes, and antiheroes, and a lot are female characters, many of whom are bona fide, fully dimensionalized, and utterly unique. We feel there’s no reason the Marvel characters shouldn’t be able to embrace diversity”

In the comics Jackpot is an superhero ally of Spider-Man and was created by Dan Slott and Phil Jimenez. Sony did not reveal which version of Jackpot they would use but in the comics two people used that name, Sara Ehret and Alana Jobson. I assume they would use Alana Jobson since she has more range of powers and abilities from Superhuman strength to invulnerability to injury.

So how do you feel about this news? Do you like the direction Sony is going with its own Marvel Universe? Leave us a comment below.
