Sony’s ‘SILVER & BLACK’ Scrapped But Stand Alone Films Coming and More

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”2155″ img_size=”640×335″ alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_rounded”][vc_column_text]Some huge Sony Marvel news was just dropped today from Variety and reporters Justin Kroll and Brent Lang. According to them Sony has decided to scrap its female team up film Silver and Black and instead they will move them over to stand alone films. Sanford Panitch who is the president for Columbia Pictures had this to say regarding the decision:

“We believe Black Cat is enough of her own character with a great backstory and a canon of material to draw from to justify her own film,”

Variety also reports that although unconfirmed it seems director Gina Prince-Bythewood will depart the project but hope that she will remain on as producer for both the Black Cat and Silver Sable standalone films.  Sony also is set to develop films based on Marvel characters Jackpot, Silk, and Nightwatch.

Despite this set back it does seem like Sony is still fully committed to is Spider-Man spin off universe which begins in October with Venom.

How do you feel about this news? Are you upset we won’t be seeing the Silver and Black team up film or are you glad they are getting stand alone films? Leave us a comment below.
