James Gunn Set To Adapt The Martian Chronicles For TV

James Gunn continues to be a busy man. He’s currently still working on DC’s The Suicide Squad. Next up, Marel’s Guardian of the Galaxy Vol 3. On top of these two massive projects, Gunn has been chosen to helm a TV adaptation of Ray Bradbury’s short story The Martian Chronicles.

For those who don’t know, The Martian Chronicles revolves around the colonization of Mars after humans leave Earth, which is in shams. The story details the conflict between Martians and Earthlings on Mars. Civic Center media, which is a joint venture between UTA and Valence Media; will develop the series. The book was originally published in 1950 and is a collection of short stories that had been published in the 1940s.

The Martian Chronicles had been adapted into a mini-series in 1979. Which included performances by Rock Hudson, Bernadette Peters, and Roddy McDowell. Bradbury had stated sometime later that he found the adaptation to be “just boring”; with James Gunn, we know it’ll be far from boring.

So far, The Martian Chronicles isn’t attached to any network or streaming service. As we find out more, we will let you know.
