The only difference is now the film has been pushed back. Originally meant to premiere on November 30th of this year, the upcoming feature is now releasing May 24, 2019. This change is a good one, considering it’s one of the most coveted slots for a movie premiere – the beginning of Memorial Day Weekend.
BrightBurn was originally supposed to have a panel at San Diego Comic-Con this past July, but due to the news that Gunn had been fired by Disney due to tweets of his from a decade ago, this was pulled from the lineup.
Among those involved in the film is Elizabeth Banks, with Gunn’s brother Brian and his cousin Mark having written the script. David Yarovesky will direct. Gunn has been silent since everything has happened and there has been quite the drama surrounding the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy movie. Not only has it been pulled from its original premiere date, but stars such as Dave Bautista have threatened to leave the project. The most recent news is that the third installment will use Gunn’s script.
BrightBurn will hit theaters May 24, 2019.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
