James Marsden Was Supposed to Play a Well-Known Actor in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood Before Role Was Cut

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”27041″ img_size=”800×450″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]James Marsden is known for playing Cyclops in the original X-Men trilogy and Teddy in HBO’s Westworld, among other things. The actor might have also been known for his part in Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, but that role has been cut.

According to Collider, Marsden was meant to play legendary actor Burt Reynolds. Reynolds was also meant to appear in the film, but passed away before filming.

Considering Reynolds made a name for himself participating in Westerns and we’ve seen glimpses from the trailers that scenes may take place on sets of Westerns, it’s a wonder if this was when Marsden’s role was meant to be. There isn’t a lot of information as to why Marsden was cut. Whether Tarantino didn’t deem it appropriate due to Reynolds’ death or simply because he felt that the role didn’t feel like it fit in.

Reynolds received a Special Thanks in the end credits of the movie. He was meant to play the Manson Family ranch owner George Spahn before his death. Tarantino had revealed that he ended up having one day of rehearsal with Reynolds. Ultimately, Bruce Dern took up the role for a single scene.

How do you feel knowing Marsden was meant to play Burt Reynolds and was cut from the film?[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
