James Wan’s next project will be a horror film, not Aquaman 2. While the director has been busy with the Conjuring franchise for Warner Bros, Wan wants fans to know that he’s been working on an original idea. One that will take him back to his horror movie roots.
Previous reports stated that Wan would be working on this secret horror movie for New Line Cinema and would be working on it with fiancé and actress Ingrid Bisu. In a now deleted post, Wan shared on Facebook that his new movie will be a “hard-R thriller”:
“There’s been a bit of speculation as to what my next project is… all I’ll say is, I’m super excited to go back to my indie roots with this hard-R thriller. An original horror idea (not a reboot/remake or anything based on existing IP) with old school, practical effects and no giant, blue screen sets. That’s all I’ll say for now. ” (via Bloody Disgusting)
Wan started off his career with SAW, before working on Dead Silence, Insidious, and eventually the Conjuring movies. Wan has had his hands full with Furious 7, Aquaman, The Curse of La Llorona, Annabell Comes Home, and next year’s Mortal Kombat. Needless to say, people eat up anything Wan has to dish out. Are you excited for his upcoming horror project?
