James Wan’s ‘Malignant’ Sets New Release Date and Reveals Teaser Image

James Wan’s new horror film ‘Malignant’ was originally supposed to release in August of 2020. Acting as his bridge film between Aquaman and Aquaman 2. But the Covid-19 pandemic caused this release date to be shelved and not much news has come out about the project…until today.

According to Bloody Disgusting via James Wan’s Instagram (@creepypuppet) Malignant will be see its’ hybrid theatrical and HBO Max release on September 10th of this year.  James Wan posted:

“MALIGNANT comes out September 10th”

He went on to add:

“I finally wrapped it last week. This was supposed to be my “little horror thriller” I do between the big ones, but the pandemic pushed it as long as the big ones.”

Included in his post was a new teaser image for the film as well.

 

“I’m super excited for this film. I don’t even know how to describe it. I wanted to do something original and genre-bending, and different to my other work, but still in the spirit of the horror-thrillers I grew up with. More to come. #MalignantMovie”

An official synopsis has not been released yet but the film has received an R-rating for:

Strong horror violence, gruesome images, and for language.”

The cast includes: Annabelle Wallis (Peaky Blinders, Annabelle), Jake Abel (The Host, Supernatural), George Young (Containment), Maddie Hasson (Twisted), Michole Briana White (100 Centre Street), Jacqueline McKenzie (The Water Diviner, Palm beach), and Mckenna Grace (Annabelle Comes Home, The Haunting of Hill House).
