Scott Derrickson’s departure as the director of Doctor Strange: And the Multiverse of Madness has many fans speculating that the director left due to assumptions that Disney wouldn’t let Derrickson make Doctor Strange 2 a horror movie.
One of the fans taken back by the announcement was Blumhouse CEO Jason Blum. He was so shocked that he wrote an email to Derrickson simply stating “Oh my God”.

With Derrickson not tied to direct Doctor Strange 2 anymore, could this be Blum’s way of snatching Derrickson back up? After all, Derrickson hasn’t returned to the world of horror since 2014’s Deliver Us From Evil. Blum and Derrickson collaborated together for Sinister in 2012, which garnered a moderate success for both.
Derrickson’s background is horror, so you have to imagine that the idea of Doctor Strange 2 was incredibly alluring to the director. While it was previously stated that Doctor Strange 2 would be a horror movie, that idea seems to have been redacted. Apparently, the film will have horror movie aspects, but not be a horror movie. This is Disney after all. Things might not have been good in paradise for a while, with Derrickson having retweeted Oscar Isaac’s quote about Disney, and a lot of cryptic tweets. Such as this one:

What do you think about Derrickson leaving Doctor Strange 2 as the director and do you want him and Jason Blum to team back up with each other?
