You will catch Jennifer Lawrence reprising her role as Mystique in the upcoming X-Men: Dark Phoenix, but the actress has been one a year-long sabbatical from movies and it seems like she is finally getting her first role back as an actress. Lawrence will be starring in an untitled film that will be the first directorial project from theater helmer Lila Neugebauer. There is not much known about the plot, nothing at all really; but the movie is backed by IAC Films and A24, while the script has been written by Elizabeth Sanders, a first-time screenwriter.
Lawrence’s venture as Mystique is coming to an end in Dark Phoenix, as this will be one of Fox’s last X-Men films, as New Mutants is supposedly still getting a theatrical release. Disney has bought out Fox and will look to recast and start their own X-Men universe that ties into their already established Marvel Cinematic Universe. There’s no telling what roles Lawrence will get now that she is back from her time-off in Hollywood, but as we find out more about this untitled project, we will let you know.
