By now, you’ve probably heard of this little show called Supernatural on the CW. It’s only CW’s longest running series to date, with essentially no plans on stopping. Although main actor Jensen Ackles is best known for playing Dean Winchester, the hard-drinking, angtsy, but with a good heart, older brother of Sam Winchester; he’s also best known for lending his voice as Jason Todd aka Red Hood in 2010’s animated movie, Batman: Under the Red Hood. Since then, fans have wanted to see a live-action rendition of the character and believe Ackles would be perfect for it.
To add fuel to the fan-casting fire, Ackles posted on Instagram a picture of him standing next to a full-size costume of Red Hood, stating “well, this is awkward”. Dean Winchester meeting Jason Todd? What could go wrong? The picture got 740,000 likes in under 15 hours. And no wonder it did. Supernatural is wildly popular and shows no signs of stopping. That and on top of it, Ackles and Jared Padalecki (Sam Winchester) are pretty close to Arrow’s Stephen Amell. All the CW shows film in Canada, so they’ve become friends and DC fans would love to see Ackles don the Red Hood.
Curran Walters will actually be playing the Red hood on DC Universe’s Titans. But, who knows if we could have another live-action Jason Todd, considering we’ll have two Cyborgs and two Jokers. The cast of Titans are young and maybe if a movie adaptation was looking for an older Jason Todd, Ackles could swoop in. While Supernatural is still running strong, perhaps the actor would like to look at a career path in DC, as he’d already have a huge fan base rooting him on.
Titans will premiere on DC Universe later this year.
