There have been rumors for a while that the hit 2019 film Joker was getting a sequel. Starring Joaquin Phoenix as the titular character, the actor went on to win an Oscar for his performance in the powerful movie. And while fans are torn as to whether or not they want a sequel, it seems not even Phoenix knows if there will be a sequel to the Todd Phillips directed movie.
When asked if the rumors were true [about the sequel], Phoenix responded with: “I dunno.”
“I mean, I dunno. From when we were shooting, we started to —you know, uhh, this is an interesting guy. There are some things we could do with this guy and could [explore] further. But as to whether we actually will? I don’t know.”
Whether the sequel is happening or not, we’ll have to wait to find out. Personally, I thought Phoenix did a phenomenal job. I would love to see him back as the character, but I also think the story was self-contained and could exist as a great movie. What do you think?
