Joe Manganiello Talks About Deathstroke in the Snyder Cut, Suicide Squad 2 Plans & More

For a while it seemed that Joe Manganiello’s Deathstroke wasn’t going to be used in the DCEU, despite the end of 2017’s Justice League setting it up. And despite it seeming like Manganiello is the perfect pick for the character. However, we will see Manganiello as Deathstroke again in Zack Snyder’s Justice League. Which, premieres in eight days.

Manganiello sat down for an interview with the Happy.Sad.Confused podcast. There, he talked about writing up a treatment for a Deathstroke origin story. And even getting Gareth Evans on board to direct the film. Then, it went nowhere:

“When the dust settled, it was not seen as a priority to make a $40 million movie about a villain origin story in which you show the backstory.”

Manganiello explained that the scene he shot in the primarily Joss Whedon directed Justice League was different than the one he shot for Snyder’s film:

“Then they re-did the end credits sequence to tease a Justice League 2 Injustice League for the bad guys that didn’t happen, clearly.”

Joe also says he was going to make an appearance in a planned Suicide Squad 2 film

“There were four or five different versions of Suicide Squad 2 that I was put on hold for, for dates, waiting for one actor to free up and we were going to go,”

Will there be more Manganiello Deathstroke in the future? The actor says:

“I think there’s going to be excitement over continuing what Zack was up to.”

Are you excited to see Deathstroke in the Snyder Cut?
