Jon Bernthal’s Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt Episode Contains Daredevil References

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”14202″ img_size=”800×450″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]It’s been quite a week or so for Jon Bernthal/Frank Castle. Last Friday, we witnessed the second season of The Punisher where Bernthal gave us an explosive performance as the unmovable vigilante. This Friday, the last season of the Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt hit Netflix and episode seven gave us a nice surprise for fans of the Marvel Netflix universe: Jon Bernthal and plenty of Daredevil references.

Fans were elated at the end of last season when a certain voice was familiar to fans, realizing it was Bernthal himself. In the seventh episode of season 4B, the Punisher actor plays Ilan, a private investigator who goes on a date with Titus Andromedon. Titus landed a role in an unaired episode of Daredevil as a doorman for Matt Murdock’s apartment building.

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt becomes even more meta when it’s revealed that Titus’s episode won’t air due to Daredevil’s cancelation – quite on the nose when considering both shows are on Netflix. Frank Castle may be a gun-toting badass, but the episode “Kimmy Fights a Fire Monster” featured Bernthal making flirty eyes to actor Tituss Burgess’s character.

Right now, the fate of The Punisher is unknown, but you should definitely catch up if you haven’t finished yet and take a look at Kimmy  Schmidt’s final adventure!
