One thing fans know is Disney doesn’t let grass grow under their feet when they are excited about a project. Especially when they are preparing to launch Disney+. While the official premier of Jon Favreau’s The Mandalorian is still under a month away, production has already started on Season 2. And just like in Season One, Disney has pegged a number of different directors for the new episodes. This time Executive Producer Favreau will step behind the camera to direct an episode. In addition, it is likely that cast member Carl Weathers will also be given a chance at the helm.
This will be consistent with the program they followed in the first season. They spread the wealth around with diverse directors like Dave Filoni, and Rick Famuyiwa. They also pegged Deborah Chow, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Taika Waititi to direct, with Waititi directing the Season finale. If things go as planned for Season 2, you can add Favreau and Weathers to that list of show directors.
