Jordan Peele In Discussions To Remake Horror Classic ‘Candyman’

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”5469″ img_size=”500×300″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]If you ask most horror movie fans about Tony Todd, one of the first things that will come up, besides how great he is with fans on social media, is the Candyman. This cult classic horror movie, which is based on a short story by Clive Barker, was directed by Bernard Rose and stars Todd as a supernatural being who once many years ago was an artist and son of a slave. He fell in love with a woman whose father disapproved of the relationship in the strongest way. He had his hand severed and then was murdered by the use of bees. Move ahead in time and the urban legend is that the Candyman can be summoned by saying his name five times while looking into a mirror. Many fans would tell you that it was one of the scariest films out there and remaking it would be wrong somehow.

Perhaps those fans might reconsider if they consider this: As reported exclusively by Bloody-Disgusting.ComJordan Peele is in talks to produce a remake of the film through his Monkeypaw Productions. It has not been reported if he intends to direct or just produce if this were to come to fruition.

Peele won an Oscar earlier this year for his Get Out screenplay and was also nominated for “Best Director”. He’s currently working on a number of different production, including the Twilight Zone remake.

For those fans of the original Candyman, would Jordan Peele’s involvement make it easier for you to accept a possible remake of the cult classic? Could anyone replace Tony Todd as the title character? Let us know your wants by looking in a mirror and replying to GVNation. You don’t even have to do it five times….but you can.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
