Josh Gad Ready To Throw Down With Jon Hamm’s ‘BATMAN’

Fan-casting characters is fun to do. Especially, when it’s actors who are doing the fan-casting. While Jon Hamm has recently stated that he wouldn’t mind becoming Batman, actor Josh Gad expressed his interest in portraying the Penguin if Hamm was given the opportunity to become the Caped Crusader. While the gif Gad posted on Twitter in response to the rumor, Gad has had a sort-of reoccurring joke centered around his desire to portray the well-known DC villain.

Matt Reeves is directing an upcoming film called The Batman, although there’s so much we don’t know. Reeves has already stated Ben Affleck will not be Bruce Wayne in his movie, which Affleck was supposed to direct but walked away from the project. This and everything that is going on with Henry Cavill as Superman sparked Hamm’s response to a question if he’d play the iconic superhero:

“It depends on the script, what the story is,” Hamm revealed (via The Hollywood Reporter). “I am a huge comic book fan, always have been. I have read comic books since I was nine or younger. And I am pretty knowledgeable about a lot of them. And I like the genre, and I like when they are done well.”

He’s also admitted that the rumors about him playing Bruce Wayne have been happening for a while:

“I have had rumors about that since probably season one of Mad Men,” Hamm explained. “I have never had a conversation with anyone about it, literally. And I’ve sat in the room with all these guys. I have never been offered anything. I think the Internet wants what it wants. But, I mean, a lot of people have to sign off on that, obviously not just the internet.”

If Jon Hamm got brought in and Josh Gad cast as Penguin, we’d have two actors who show genuine interest in their roles. Considering it’s been obvious that there are some actors who seem tired of their characters already, wouldn’t we want those who are enthusiastic about who they play? What are your thoughts on this fan-casting?
