Birds of Prey is close to coming out and excitement is amping up for the film. There is so much source material for each star to sort from for inspiration for their performances. One character expresses how they found inspiration from Injustice 2. That would be Jurnee Smollett-Bell, who says that she kept a close eye on Injustice 2 for Black Canary’s infamous Canary Cry:
“I drew a lot of inspiration for the Canary Cry from the Black Canary in Injustice 2. Yeah, even physically. But for me, I really wanted to make it very primal. That was part of it for me, because it’s, it’s not something she uses, you know, it’s something she’s trying to hide, and so to get to the point to rev herself up, it’s coming from such a guttural point and a guttural place. But it was fine man. I mean they put a bunch of people on some strings and ratcheted them back and it was awesome. I felt really powerful.”
From the trailers, the Canary Cry looks awesome and we are looking forward to seeing it on the big screen for ourselves! Are you excited for Black Canary in Birds of Prey? You won’t have to wait too long, as the movie comes out in theaters on February 7.
