On the heels of successfully escaping a deadly digital trap, the members of the Justice League emerge in their own world to discover that Grimm, ravenous creatures from Remnant, have overtaken Earth! In order to defeat the monsters, they must call on their new friends – Team RWBY – for help!

Following Justice League x RWBY: Super Heroes & Huntsmen, Part One, the new animated film from Rooster Teeth Animation, DC and Warner Bros. Animation, will see the Justice League and Team RWBY team up again in a whole new environment to take on Grimm, who has arrived on earth with even more powers.

    Video Quality

Justice League x RWBY: Super Heroes & Huntsmen, Part Two comes to 4K UHD Blu-Ray with a 2160p transfer that continues with the unique visual style from the first film with some tweaks to certain elements including character designs. Unlike the first film, there is not an accompanying Blu-Ray included in the package to compare to. Based on past precedent, this 4K UHD disc likely helps alleviate all digital anomalies and provides more stunning color. The HDR provides some unbelievable enhancements to the world of hues on display from the largely vibrant palette.

The disc provides robust black levels for a problem-free viewing experience free of black crush, along with stronger highlights that never veer into blooming. This feature introduces the aesthetic of the Justice League world to the RWBY team for an animation style that blends well with one another. This disc serves up incredible line detail and more distinct shading, which gives these characters an exciting definition. This presentation showcases a firm command over the precise gradients of the artwork in a way that avoids any hint of banding. Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has delivered a strong 4K UHD Blu-Ray presentation that should be celebrated.

    Audio Quality

This release features a DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio track that feels a bit improved compared to the first installment. As you would expect, there are no sync issues or other anomalies present to ruin the experience. The calm moments fare very well when it comes to clarity and complexity. Even more exciting, the active moments are given the prominence they deserve in the mix. The track engages all of the appropriate channels with lively panning effects and sounds of explosions that transport you to the action. There is a solid amount of activity in the low-end which will give your subwoofer something to work with. The score works well with the competing sounds so everything has its own shape. Warner Bros. has delivered a track that brings the world to life well. There are optional English SDH, French, and Spanish subtitles provided.

    Special Features

    • I’ve Got Your Back – The Bond Between Justice League x RWBY: A seven-minute featurette in which the cast and creative team discuss transitioning to the Justice League world and how it impacts the characters, how these two factions work together, the journey of the characters, how this pair up pays off narratively for both properties and more.
    • You Look…Different – RWBY On Earth: A seven-minute piece in which many of the same participants discuss the visual differences in this second half of the story as we move to the Justice League world, the visual characteristics of the characters in this world, fun inclusions sprinkled throughout this journey, and more.

    Final Thoughts

Justice League x RWBY: Super Heroes & Huntsmen, Part Two generally keeps in line with the quality of the first part of the story. These two worlds never seem fully at ease with one another, but there are some fun moments for fans of each franchise. The aesthetic works for the world of RWBY, but the Justice League universe looks a bit more cheap than we would like. This is a decent crossover event, but it is not a pairing we need to see more of in the future. Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has released a 4K UHD Blu-Ray featuring a great A/V presentation and a few brief special features. This is recommended more for fans of RWBY than DC fans, but if you liked the first installment, you should dig this one. Recommended

Justice League x RWBY: Super Heroes & Huntsmen, Part Two is currently available on 4K UHD Blu-Ray, Blu-Ray, and Digital.
