Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Joins ‘iZombie’!

As much as it pains me, iZombie’s fifth season will be its last season. Rob Thomas’s show, based on the comic-book series by DC’s Vertigo; centers around Liv Moore, who became a zombie after a boat party gone wrong. Throughout the seasons, we’ve seen Liv deal with being the only zombie in the city, to more multiplying, friends finding out, to now the whole world knowing. Seattle was sealed off as a result and the fourth season spent much of its time trying to balance the tense social climate, while making sure the US government didn’t just nuke their city to be rid of the brain-eaters.

While the main cast will all come back to reprise their roles, we are getting a new and familiar face joining Team Z. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, a basketball legend who stands at 7’2”; was cast as Zed, a city council member who did not flee when the wall went up. Zed is a zombie, so it’ll be really interesting to see Abdul-Jabbar as a zom. Zed, Liv, and Peyton will all essentially have to help keep the city of Seattle together after the mayor was killed last season (by Blaine) and the US government has stopped helping.

Major Lilywhite now heads Filmore Graves, after Chase Graves was killed in season four’s finale; while Blaine is in charge of brain distribution and Ravi continuously works on a cure. The main question will be, will everyone want to be cured? It was easy in the earlier seasons where Liv and others desperately wanted to be human again, but with a population on the rise, the “zombie pride” philosophy may prove as a roadblock for Ravi and Liv.

You can watch all four seasons of iZombie on Netflix and look forward to season five in 2019 on the CW.
