After Marvel released their upcoming Phase 4 plans at the SDCC, in addition to all the excitement of what was revealed, questions still remained. For example why another Avengers film wasn’t announced or what the plans are for X-Men and Fantastic Four. While the Fox additions were briefly mentioned, no concrete plans were revealed.
Soon after the Marvel presentation, IGN talked with Feige about the Avengers and the X-Men. As for why there was no mention of the Avengers:
We had a movie this year entitled Avengers End Game. We wanted it to be and it was, an ending, as you saw, for many of these characters. So that was about endings and Phase 4 is about beginnings. Learning new things about characters that you think you already know, like Black Widow. Meeting exciting new characters like the Eternals and Shang-Chi as well as new adventures with Dr. Strange and Thor. And these Disney+ shows, that I promise will be spectacular and not what anyone’s expecting.
As for the X–Men, he was asked about if there was a reason for their reference as “Mutants” instead of X–Men. Did it mean they were going a different route than the traditional X–Men film?
Basically the name is interchangeable but rest assured that whatever we do, it will be different than anything that has been done before.
