There has been very little LGBTQ+ representation in the MCU. We had some in the Netflix Defenders universe, but those shows aren’t even canon now. We had Joe Russo play an inconsequential gay man in Avengers: Endgame and a no-name background trans character in Spider-Man: Far From Home. This is hardly representation.[/caption]
Apparently, Kevin Feige looks to improve on that front. During a spot at the New York Film Academy, a student asked if there were plans to bring in more diversity, specifically transgender characters. Feige responded:
“Yes, absolutely yes. Very soon. In a movie we’re shooting right now.”
Feige did not specify which project he meant, but both Black Widow and The Eternals are in active production – does this mean we will see an openly transgender character in one of these two films?
