Lauren Cohan Reveals Why She’s Leaving ‘The Walking Dead’

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”2935″ img_size=”1000×500″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]On top of losing Andrew Lincoln this season of The Walking Dead, we are also going to be saying goodbye to another long-running actor on the show. Maggie Greene, played by Lauren Cohan; has been in the series since season two when Rick and Shane desperately brought a hurt Carl to her doorsteps. Over the seasons, Maggie and Glenn fell in love, Maggie became pregnant, and has continuously proven herself not only to be a great survivor, but also a worthy leader. As she is now for the Hilltop.

But, Lauren Cohan is leaving The Walking Dead and has finally shed some light as to why she came to this decision.

“Walking Dead is responsible for more than I can say. I never thought about drama as much when I started this career and I always kind of assumed I’d do light fare, so it was really funny. There’s a chance for me to still explore the Maggie character and it’s gonna be fun to see if that can be done.” – Lauren revealed to ABC News.

It’s hard to think of someone like Maggie being able to leave the show without her character being killed off, but considering how the last season left off things between her and Rick, we don’t know if her simply leaving would be filmed in a way that made sense to the show. Essentially having no connection to anyone anymore besides her baby, she could just pack up and decide to leave. After all, the show has been pretty confined to its few locations throughout the seasons, so maybe Maggie just wants to see what the hell is going on with the rest of America

Season 9 of The Walking Dead premieres October 7th on AMC.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
