With the influx of social media, it seems that anyone can be a critic. The problem would be if that not everyone who puts out an opinion has actually watched the shows or films their critiquing. While this might be okay with those who just want an opinion put out there, it is not for those who are professional critics. This appears to be the problem that The Witcher Showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich has with some of the reviews of her new Netflix Show. She expressed this in a recent Tweet:
Many people have sweetly written me, upset about the #Witcher reviews. Know this:
Who do I care about? "Professional" critics who watched one episode and skipped ahead? Or REAL fans who watched all eight in one day, and are starting their rewatch?
I am fucking THRILLED.😉❤️

Miss Hissrich didn’t name names or point fingers. However, it did seem that she was talking about some reviews from Entertainment Weekly, where the reviewers admitted they hadn’t watched all the shows. While this might be expected from a personal review, it would seem unacceptable for those who make a living doing these types of critiques. At least, that seems to be Miss Hissrich’s perspective.
In truth, the reviews for the show appear to be mixed and more often based on what your previous experience with the Witcher series is. Those unfamiliar will undoubtedly see it differently than those who have read the books or played the games. I fit the former criteria and thus far, I have enjoyed the show. Do you agree with Lauren S. Hissrich that you should see the whole season before you pass judgement? Or will a few episodes suffice? Share how you decide such matters with us at GeekVibesNation.
