    Once again, the best in digital art come together for their premier event, the 2024 LightBox Expo. Founded by Bobby Chiu and Jim Demonakos, the LightBox Expo highlights and celebrates the creative digital artists who bring many of your favorite films and television shows to life. This year promises to be bigger and better than ever, featuring over 1,000 participants and numerous opportunities to learn from the top professionals in the industry.

    Connecting to Fellow Artists and Companies

    One of the other benefits of the Expo is to connect fellow graphic artists and companies to get their work out there. It is one of the founding principles of LightBox Expo to help upcoming digital artists to bring their talents to the forefront. In addition to their focus on sharing the Digital Art world to fans who either appreciate it or want to learn more about it.

    There are so many great demonstrations and panels, it will be hard to decide what to catch. Here are just a few of the numerous ones to choose from:

    “HBO’s The Last of Us S1 Story Art” – Room 101-102 | Colin Lorimer

    Join Colin Lorimer as he walks you through the storyboard process from script to final delivery aided with a multitude of cool visuals. The introduction to the presentation will feature boards from other productions helping to explain Colin’s journey as a now 25-year veteran having worked on everything from comic books, feature film, TV, to video games. And what could be better than sharing some scary sequences from HBO’s The Last of Us season #1 as we edge ever closer to Halloween!

    “The Making of Transformers One: A Creative Journey” – Room 207 | Paramount Animation and Hasbro, Jason Scheier, Aaron Dem, Chris Batty, Joshua Cordes, Bobby Rubio

    TRANSFORMERS ONE is the untold origin story of Optimus Prime and Megatron, better known as sworn enemies, but once were friends bonded like brothers who changed the fate of Cybertron forever. The creative team will share their stories of collaboration by exploring the ideas, research, and designs showcased in the film. Join us for this unique experience creating this new and unexplored world of TRANSFORMERS ONE.

    “Exploring the Animated Universe of Star Trek: Lower Decks” – Room 211 | Titmouse, Mike McMahan, Barry J. Kelly, Robby Cook, Marisa Livingston

    Join the team behind Star Trek: Lower Decks for an exclusive journey into the artistic world of the show as it enters its thrilling fifth and final season. Creator & Showrunner, Mike McMahan, and Titmouse’s Barry J. Kelly (Supervising Director & Producer), Marisa Livingston (Character Design Supervisor), and Robby Cook (Character Design & Retakes Animator) will engage in a discussion detailing the creative processes, production challenges, and storytelling strategies that have defined the series. Discover how the team balanced comedy with iconic sci-fi elements and brought to life storylines involving “space potholes” and Orion wars, while sharing insights on character design and production. Celebrate the journey of the U.S.S. Cerritos crew and the evolution of this beloved animated series

    Among those numerous panels and exciting demonstrations will be the 2024 Concept Art Awards. This event serves as a platform to honor and celebrate the exceptional talents and accomplishments of artists in the realms of film, gaming, and animation. It highlights the innovative creators whose visionary artistry animates our beloved stories and characters, demonstrating the richness, variety, and ingenuity of concept art. A panel of industry specialists judges the Concept Art Awards, acknowledging outstanding work in character, creature, vehicle/prop, environment, keyframe, color keys, and visual development.

    Be part of this inspiring celebration, witness the recognition of artistic excellence, and connect with the vibrant community of creators and enthusiasts!
