Lionsgate in Talks for ‘Hunger Games’ Prequel Adaptation

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”24593″ img_size=”810×462″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]When you’ve had a major film success with a  book series, it makes sense that you would try to stay on that horse as long as you can. That appears to be the case with Lionsgate. With their recent film success with the Hunger Games trilogy, they are in negotiations with Suzanne Collins once again. This time for the rights to adapt her upcoming Hunger Games prequel. The first of these are scheduled for May of 2020.

Lionsgate Chairman Joe Drake had this to say about the possibility:

As the proud home of the Hunger Games movies, we can hardly wait for Suzanne’s next book to be published. We’ve been communicating with her during the writing process and we look forward to continuing to work closely with her on the movie.

For Miss Collins part, she had this to say about the sequel in an interview with the AP:

With this book, I wanted to explore the state of nature, who we are, and what we perceive is required for our survival. The reconstruction period 10 years after the war, commonly referred to as the Dark Days — as the country of Panem struggles back to its feet — provides fertile ground for characters to grapple with these questions and thereby define their views of humanity.
