Local Boston News Anchor Fired From Job After Brief Cameo in Adam Sandler’s ‘Hubie Halloween’

Has an Adam Sandler movie ever gotten you fired? One news reporter can say that it did. News anchor Alaina Pinto has revealed she’s been fired from WHDH Channel 7 News Boston for a brief cameo in Adam Sandler’s Netflix original comedy ‘Hubie Halloween’. The movie was shot in Massachusetts and Pinto has a very small cameo as a news reporter dressed up as Harley Quinn. Pinto said she “mistakenly violated her contract” at the news station. Pinto had been working at the news station since 2016.

Pinto wrote on Twitter:

“Hi Friends! I have some news to share. Earlier this week I was let go from 7 News. I am posting this because I want to be open and honest with all of you. Last year, I participated in a cameo in the recently released Netflix movie by Adam Sandler, ‘Hubie Halloween.’ In doing so, I mistakenly violated my contract with the station.”

Pinto continued:

“I understand why management unfortunately chose to terminate me. I am deeply disappointed and saddened, and I hoped this would not be how things evolved. Thanks to all my wonderful 7 News viewers and my supportive and great colleagues at the station. Reporting the news to you every morning was an honor and a privilege.”

Personally, I think this is foul. Pinto’s been working at the news station for four years. Who would pass up the opportunity to cameo in a movie being filmed near them? I hope Pinto finds her next job soon and check her out in Hubie Halloween – out now on Netflix.
