Although we enjoy the Academy Awards every year, we always walk away with a sour taste in our mouths. Today I will continue my series on the Oscar winners. I will share my thoughts on who won, who should’ve won and who should’ve been nominated.
The first race I am going to tackle is the 2006 Best Picture race.
Here were the 5 films nominated for Best Picture.
- The Departed
- Babel
- Letters From Iwo Jima
- Little Miss Sunshine
- The Queen
Who Won?

Who Should Have Won?: The Departed
An undercover cop and a mole in the police attempt to identify each other while infiltrating an Irish gang in South Boston. The Departed was nominated for 5 Academy Awards and the film took home 4 Oscars including Best Picture.
Martin Scorsese was nominated 5 times prior to finally nabbing his first (and only) Best Director Oscar for this film. The film truly is one of the greatest movies of all-time. The cast is loaded, the screenplay is remarkable and the film just keeps you rocking throughout the entire film.
The Departed is my favorite movie of all-time. I take my biased feelings in saying that I truly think this film deserved
What Should Have Been Nominated?: The Pursuit Of Happyness
I remember the first time I watched this film, it ripped me in two. The film is inspirational in which we see Will Smith give one of the best performances of his career. The roller coaster of emotions in writer Steve Conrad makes you feel is beautiful. The film lays the groundwork for a remarkable film.
The film hands down got robbed of several nominations.
Who would you have picked as the winner? And what film was missing from being nominated?

Family, Faith, Film and Football.
