LucasFilm Is Putting The Brakes On Future ‘Solo’ Star Wars Films

Much like the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the DC Extended Universe, LucasFilm wanted to create their own vast universe for the galaxy far, far away.  Star Wars has already put out several films in the last couple of years and wanted to make more. From what we know, a Boba Fett spinoff film was in the works, having gained Logan director, James Mangold, himself.  An Obi-Wan Kenobi project was meant to start production in 2019 as well, but for fans awaiting both movies, there’s some disappointing news.[/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”135″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center” onclick=”link_image”][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”136″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center” onclick=”link_image”][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_column_text]Following the disappointment of Solo: A Star Wars Story, LucasFilm and Disney have decided to officially shut down any spinoff movies indefinitely. With no plans of any anthology films to be released, fans can goodbye to the hopes we’d have a Jar Jar Binks solo movie (just kidding, no one wants that).[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”137″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center” onclick=”link_image”][vc_column_text]There’s no questioning that Solo did not do well in the theaters. Big names like Donald Glover, Emilia Clarke, Thandie Newton, and Paul Bettany were not enough to draw in the crowds, as this Ron Howard produced film is set to lose the studio up to 50 million dollars. I think that Solo showed the studios that audiences don’t need every franchise to be like the MCU in order to draw in crowds; what we like about Star Wars is everyone together and there really was no need for an origin story film focused around Han Solo.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
