Luke Cage’s Cheo Hodari Coker Makes Deal with Amazon Studios

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”12122″ img_size=”684×425″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]Cheo Hodari Coker is a man of many talents. Not only did he bring Luke Cage to life on Netflix, but he was also a story writer on Creed II. Now, Coker is teaming up with Amazon, inking a deal thus taking him from Marvel, after Netflix canceled the popular series.

Coker commented on this deal with Amazon:

“Amazon is the future, and their bespoke, specific approach to building groundbreaking shows offers an amazing opportunity, one that I’m incredibly thankful for. I can’t think of a better place to launch the first shows developed under my Seattle-based Fighting 99th Entertainment banner, and am excited for people to see what we have in store.”

Amazon Studios’ co-head of television, Vernon Danders; also spoke on the newly found relationship with Coker:

“We’re very excited to welcome Cheo to the Amazon Studios family. From Notorious to Luke Cage, Cheo is a provocative, revolutionary storyteller, and we’re happy he’ll be creating those kinds of bold new series exclusively for Prime Video.”

Fans might be disappointed to hear Coker breaking away from Netflix, but the unfortunate reality is that the streaming service has canceled Luke cage, among Iron Fist and Daredevil and is likely to cancel the remaining shows once their upcoming seasons premiere. Although it’s unlikely Coker will develop a Luke cage series on Amazon, considering the deal that dictates that none of these Marvel characters can premiere anywhere else for two years; we still are getting great content by a very talented man and who knows, maybe he’ll take the likes of Mike Colter and other Luke Cage actors with him.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
