Disney’s Maleficent really was a game changer for those who know the story Sleeping Beauty. Starring Angelina Jolie, the film gave us a different perspective as to why the movie “villain” was the way she was. It gave us insight, beautiful imagery, and powerful metaphors for physical assault. In the end, it almost nixed out Prince Charming and it was the love of a mother that brought Sleeping Beauty out of her slumber.
According to an Instagram post, Maleficent 2 has officially wrapped production. While the plot details for the sequel are still under wraps, Jolie has returned as the main character, as well as Elle Fanning as Princess Aurora, and Harris Dickinson is replacing Brenton Thwaites as Prince Phillip. Ed Skrein, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Michelle Pfeiffer are in the second Maleficent film.
Maleficent 2 will premiere May 29, 2020.
