On May 13th of this year, the world lost another Hollywood star. Margot Kidder was best known for her role as Lois Lane in the 1970s in the Superman film series across from Christopher Reeves’s Clark Kent. If you explore Kidder’s Wikipedia page, her filmography is extensive, including guest starring in two episodes of Smallville, the CW hit-show that was only surpassed by Supernatural for the number of seasons they had.
Recently, the Park County Coroner’s office released a statement revealing that Kidder’s death resulted from an intentional overdose of narcotics and alcohol. Kidder’s daughter Maggie McGuane has decided to make the fact that her mother’s death was a result of suicide, to be honest, and open about the subject.
“She [McGuane] believes it’s important to be open and honest about the suicide so there’s no cloud of shame.” The report states.
Kidder had lived with bipolar disorder for years and looked to raise awareness for mental health. We have lost several well-known celebrities over the past year or so to suicide; Kate Spade, Anthony Bourdain, Chester Bennington, Chris Cornell, and Rick Genest’s recent death is believed to be self-inflicted.
