As pretty much anyone and everyone knows, Josh Brolin played the role of Thanos in a Mo-Cap suit for Avengers Infinity War. They also know that Thanos made a number of cameos in other movies in the MCU. In the original Avengers, Thanos appearance was not computer generated but based on the sculpture work of Jose Fernandez of Ironhead Studios. This is described in this Instagram post detailing the original look.
Of course Marvel eventually decided to go the whole CGI route but this initial makeup proved that it could work, thanks to the skilled work of Ironhead Studios.
