Matt Reeves Discusses His Vision For ‘The Batman’

While production on The Batman might be halted, that has not stopped Matt Reeves from talking about his upcoming caped crusader film.

By now, everyone knows that Matt Reeves had a different plan for his version of Batman. He wanted to explore the character in his early years as the World’s Greatest Detective. He talked about his thoughts on his film with Nerdist.Com.

I thought, ‘Well, there’s been some terrific Batman movies,’ and I don’t want to be part of a long line of Batman movies where this is just another one. I feel like they’ve been really distinctive. The best ones have been incredible. What Nolan did was incredible. What Tim Burton did was really singular. I just felt like well, what I’d love to do is to get a version of this Batman character where he’s not yet fully formed. Where there’s something to do in this context with who that guy would be in this world today, and to ground him in all of these broken ways. Because at the end of the day, this guy is doing all of this to deal with trauma in his past.

Part of that thinking is what lent them to bring on Robert Pattinson as Batman. But unfortunately, as we are reminded daily, even Batman cannot defeat the COVID-19 virus. So while the production is on hold, we can still discuss and debate what we will see and the direction Reeves is taking. Are you looking forward to Reeves interpretation of the Dark Knight? Can Robert Pattinson hold up to the bar the previous Batman’s have laid out? Share your thoughts with us at Geek Vibes Nation.
