Meet Your Lineup for James Gunn’s ‘The Suicide Squad’

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”17256″ img_size=”800×533″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]James Gunn’s take of The Suicide Squad is certainly shaping up to be different than the 2016 iteration. While Margot Robbie is confirmed to return and Viola Davis is rumored to reprise her role as Amanda Waller, Will Smith is out (with talks of Idris Elba replacing him) and Joel Kinnaman will not be returning. Many could say that this makes sense, considering that the Suicide Squad has had many different characters throughout the years in the comics and it’s likely that Gunn is looking to expand on that. According to Collider, here are the characters we’re to expect in the upcoming film:

  • Ratcatcher aka Otis Flannegan is a character that Gunn is considering gender-swapping. Originally male, the Ratcatcher may be cast as a female character who is a super-criminal of Batman’s rogue gallery, who starts out as an exterminator before turning to a life of crime. She has an army of small rodents and enjoys poisonous gas.
  • It looks like we’re finally getting King Shark in this rendition, who was sorely missed in the first Suicide Squad.
  • We’re getting Polka-Dot Man aka Mr. Polka Dot, who grows multi-colored polka dots all over his body, which he can use as fireballs and other weapons. According to his description, he’s often embarrassed by his abilities.
  • Next is Peacemaker aka Christopher Smith who is an extremist of sorts, who will literally kill in pursuit of peace. We should note that there are sources that say this is a role meant for Dave Bautista, who was particularly vocal during Gunn’s firing from Marvel. It would make sense if Bautista follows Gunn over to DC.

What do you think about this lineup and are you hoping any of the other original Squad will show up?[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
