Hollywood actor Michael Fassbender is fulfilling a dream of his. Fassbender will contest this year’s European Le Mans Series. He will race a Porshe 911 RSR in the GTE class of ELMS for the Proton Competition team. Fassbender will share the car with Richard Lietz and Felipe Fernandez Laser.
Fassbender expressed:
“Even before I started acting, I had a big dream to go racing – it was clear to me at a young age.”
He added, in regards to Le Mans:
“I think it’s the history of the place; to be part of that would be unbelievable.”
Fassbender is hoping that in working with Porshe that he will be able to compete in the 24 hours. In fact, this isn’t the first time Fassbender has gotten behind the wheel in a competitive level. He competed last year in the national-level Porsche Sports Club, driving a Porsche 911 GT3 Cup. He also competed in the Ferrari Challenge North America in both 2017 and 2018.
Proton boss Christian Ried had this to say:
“It’ll be interesting to see how Michael progresses. As a team, we’re delighted to be able to accompany him on his ‘Road to Le Mans’.”
