Michael Shannon Says He Would Return as Zod For Supergirl If Zack Snyder Were Involved

If you don’t remember, Supergirl is an upcoming film for DC…or so it has been reported. While Warner Bros. and DC Films are looking to introduce Kara Danvers into the DC live-action universe in her own stand-alone film, there’s been some interesting rumors circulating. One of those rumors is Michael Shannon reprising his role as General Zod. Considering he was killed in 2013’s Man of Steel, does this mean Supergirl could be a prequel?

Take this all with a grain of salt, as nothing is confirmed. It’s all speculation. But, if Shannon were to return, he would like director Zack Snyder to be involved:

“Wow, that’s interesting. I swear to God, I am not kidding — you are breaking this news to me. I will have to look into that. Zod again? I don’t know — it’s been a while. I am a little older and creakier now — I’m not sure I could do all the moves. Also, I have to say in complete and utter seriousness that I just loved working with Zack Snyder and that was a big part of it for me. I don’t know who’s making this Supergirl movie but I really treasure that experience with Zack. He’s a hell of a guy.”

See, news to him. So, nothing is confirmed. But, I’m sure Shannon’s opinion alone will be enough to garner some excitement from fans – though, Snyder’s involvement is unlikely considering Snyder’s departed DC (after a tragic family event) in the middle of Justice League. Since then, DC has been retconning a lot of what Zack had in place and it seems DC is moving in a different direction altogether.
