Mirka Andolfo’s ‘Sweet Paprika’ figure reaches full Kickstarter funding in only 12 minutes

There have been so many diverse and wonderful creations on Kickstarter that it has been hard to keep up. Not to mention the dilemma of  trying to decide which projects to support. For the creators, this can be a stressful time…usually. However, in Mirka Andolfo’s case, her project only needed 12 minutes to be fully funded.

Sweet Paprika Statue

Andolfo is the creator of Sweet Paprika which tells the tale of spirited and devilish young business woman and her boyfriend Dill. The character, which started out as just posted artwork by Andolfo has really blossomed. It will not only be a comic, published by Image Comics in July, but also has an animated feature in the works. Needless to say Sweet Paprika has created quite a stir.

In conjunction with the upcoming comic, Andolfo enlisted artist Andrew Hickinbottom to created a a 7 inch 3D Sculpture of the character. The project was initiated on Kickstarter and it was fully funded in only 12 minutes. Which is a testament to the popularity of the character and the great work done by Hickinbottom.

The Creator Reacts

As you might expect, Andolfo was thrilled by the reaction to the statue.

”I am overwhelmed from the love people are showing my work and for Paprika. I can’t wait to hold the statue in my hands and start sharing it with all of you!” Andolfo said. “Some more news on Paprika will come soon, but for now I’m just trying to enjoy the success of my first crowdfunding campaign!”

“The devilish Paprika and her goofy angel boyfriend, Dill, have occupied my heart for years—first as sketches I posted online, but they demanded more. Now Paprika will step into three dimensions in this gorgeous statue before leaping into her comic series this July—and into even more (unannounced) projects in the future. Andrew Hickinbottom did a wonderful job.”
