Missing ‘Game of Thrones’ Character Makes Return in Season 8

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”7325″ img_size=”1000×547″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]Since the Game of Thrones series started, there has been one group of characters who have had an avid fan base. One that paid close attention on what was going on and lamented every time one those characters met their untimely ends. Those characters  were the Stark Direwolves: Lady, Grey Wind, Shaggydog, Nymeria, Ghost and Summer. A quick five no points to those who can name the owners of each wolf. As all fans know, Lady, Greywind, Shaggy Dog, and Summer have all met their makers, through deeds both heroic and foul. Only Nymeria and Ghost remain and one of them was MIA last season.

Nymeria made a brief appearance last season as she (along with her posse) came across Arya in the woods. After recognizing Arya, she went on her way, despite Arya’s request she come along with her. Arya knew, like herself, that “wasn’t her way.” So that leaves us with Ghost, who has lived up to his name lately by being apparently in stealth mode and not appearing at all. That will change this season as Ghost comes back from the spectral world and returns to the living…and the dead if you count the Night King and his cronies. In a recent interview, VFX supervisor Joe Bauer talked about Ghost and the issues they have in filming the Direwolves scenes:

Oh, you’ll see him again. He has a fair amount of screen time in Season 8. He does show up. The direwolves are tough because you don’t want to get them wrong, so we end up always shooting real wolves and doing a scaling trick with them, but the real wolves only behave in certain ways.

With the show’s final season upon us, it is probably logical that Nymeria will show up again. What her fate might be Bauer didn’t comment on, but he did make another statement about Ghost.

Ghost does show up, and he does some … he’s very present and does some pretty cool things in Season 8.

The hesitation in that statement, makes one think that Ghost indeed has a role to play in the conflict between the living and the dead. It also appears that Bauer didn’t want to let the wolf out of the bag yet. So we are still in stand-by mode until next year.

Are you Direwolves fans glad that Ghost and perhaps Nymeria will be making an appearance in the last season of Game of Thrones? What role do you think they might play? It’s time to become Direwolves Whisperers and let us know what you think at GVNation.
