Video Quality
Paramount Pictures Home Entertainment brings Mona Lisa and the Blood Moon to Blu-Ray with a really good 1080p video presentation. The image is clean and clear with a nuanced color palette saturating the screen. The film makes an impression with numerous splashes of color within the lighting, clothing, and production design which makes for a striking image. Black levels are deep, but digital noise does occasionally pop up. Highlights are never an issue as they avoid any blooming. Flesh tones are natural with subtle nuances showcased well in close-ups and medium shots. The presentation provides a welcome amount of depth on display in the raggedy environment. Paramount has provided this film with a great presentation which is every bit as pleasing as a modern movie should look in HD.
Audio Quality
The Blu-Ray comes with a perfectly solid DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio track that captures this soundscape without issue. This is not the most raucous narrative, but there is some welcome activity in the rear channels that brings the city to life. The low end is not put to the test too often, but it adds a bit of texture. Everything is mixed with precision which allows all sounds to be accurately rendered across all channels from the correct direction. Dialogue comes through crisp and clear without ever falling victim to competing environmental factors. The music does a nice job of establishing the tone of the narrative as the track fills the room. This track does everything it is supposed to do. There are optional English and English SDH subtitles provided.

Final Thoughts
Mona Lisa and the Blood Moon never really delivers anything to elevate itself above being decent. We are all for a supernatural movie that is light on plot and heavy on vibes, but not even the vibes are that satisfying. The performances elevate the material to a more watchable level, but it is not an effort that you will remember even a few days after consuming it. Thematically the film works, yet getting there is a little bit of a disappointment. Paramount Picture Home Entertainment has released a Blu-Ray that sports fantastic A/V presentation but nothing in the way of special features.
Mona Lisa and the Blood Moon can be purchased on Blu-Ray directly through MovieZyng or various other online retailers.

Dillon is most comfortable sitting around in a theatre all day watching both big budget and independent movies.
