In what can only be described as good news to Grimm Fans, NBC is in the developmental stage of a spinoff for the supernatural series, which ended after six seasons. Like the original Grimm, the offshoot will originate from Universal TV and Sean Hayes and Todd Milliner’s studio-based Hazy Mills Productions. Written by Melissa Glenn, who worked on Marvel’s Iron Fist, the yet as untitled show will center on a female Grimm and will continue to build off the mythology of the original series.  It is reported that the new show will feature returning fan favorites while also introducing new characters, new dangers and epic new mysteries. The premise is to feature some original cast members, in regular or recurring roles.

For those who didn’t follow the original series (you should really check it out), Grimm followed Portland Homicide detective Nick Burkhardt (David Giuntoli), who discovered that he is a Grimm, an ancestral line of guardians whose sworn duty is to keep the balance between humanity and what the general public thought were mythological creatures.  As a Grimm, Nick could see the creatures who to everyone else, looked like normal people. He was joined by his partner Hank Griffin who was played by Russell Hornsby. At this time both Giuntoli and Hornsby are starring in new series this season, ABC’s A Million Little Things and Fox’s Proven Innocent, respectively. The additional cast also included Elizabeth Tulloch who is now cast in the Arrowverse as Lois Lane. Guintoli and Tulloch were recently married (June 2017) after meeting and working together on Grimm.

For you fans of the Original Grimm, how do you feel about a spin-off and perhaps the return of some of the familiar characters that were introduced during it’s Six Season run? If you haven’t guessed by now, I am pretty excited by the idea. The series finale actually gave them a lot to work with in this endeavor. They could easily start there if they so desired.
