Lopez’s performance was praised and even to this day, fans mourn the passing of Selena, who was shot and killed by her fan club president in 1995 at the age 23.
Now, Netflix has announced that they are in the works of developing a scripted series based on the life of Selena Quintanilla. Described as “Selena: The Series”, the show will be a coming of age story that will follow the young singer as she “makes her dreams come true”. Reportedly, Selena’s family is involved with the show’s development.
Despite being so young, Selena worked on five albums, her final being “Dreaming of You”, which had songs in both English and Spanish, and was released after her death.
Selena’s sister Suzette comments on the series:
“With this series, viewers will finally get the full history of Selena, our family and the impact she has had on all of our lives.”
