Netflix May Release a Cheaper, Mobile-Only Monthly Service

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”10301″ img_size=”800×400″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]Do you often watch streaming services on your mobile phone? Subscriptions like Netflix, Hulu, and others? Well, it seems that Netflix is going to start testing out their application as a mobile-only option for a cheaper price. For only four dollars a month, they are testing this out in Malaysia, where viewership on a phone only is quite the majority over television.

This comes just as Netflix is trying to make itself more accessible to others. With its competition growing with the new DC Universe service and the upcoming Disney+, the giant will have to find new ways to appeal to others.

“We are testing to understand consumer interest in a mobile-only plan in some countries,” Netflix told Quartz. “Generally, we try out lots of new ideas at any given time, and they can vary in how long they last and who sees them. We may not ever roll out the features or elements included in a test.”

If someone, though; wishes to watch Netflix on their television or computer, they will have to pay the full price of the service, which has reported that it is planning on raising its prices once again. Netflix went two years without a price raise and again, with the popping up of more and more streaming apps, Netflix will need to find ways to make their revenue.

What do you think of this cheaper alternative? A smart idea or another way for Netflix to make money?[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
